School Assembly on Making Choices - KS1 & KS2

Making Choices

Download a school assembly on Making Choices. The pack includes a PowerPoint slideshow which explores simple and difficult choices children face every day. The slides provoke discussion on the right and wrong choices and how this is influenced by their friends.

The pack also includes a quick assembly story about a little girl who makes a series of bad decisions because of peer pressure. The story raises many moral points and the children can pick out all the bad choices in the story and then offer an alternative, better choice.

Rosie's mum was very worried about Rosie. She was acting very strangely lately and it had all started when she started the new school. She had started hanging around with girls at school who were not really like her and was desperately trying to fit in. Rosie's mum couldn't believe it when the school rang in to complain about her behaviour. It just wasn't the type of thing Rosie would do.

"Rosie! Come down to breakfast! It's already 8.0'clock and we will all be late if you are not ready in time!" Mum shouted.

"Who cares! Get off my back!" Rosie shouted back at her mother.

"How dare you answer back like that! If you are not down in two minutes, you are not getting any pocket money this weekend!" Mum was quick in her response. Rosie came down quickly enough. "I am ready!" she announced rudely, tapping her toes impatiently.

"What about your breakfast?" asked her mum.

"I don't want breakfast. It's my choice!" Rosie snapped back.

"Well, it's not a very good choice!" Mum sighed. "Well come on then, we will be late!"
