The woman who lived in a vinegar bottle - Extract

There was once a very old woman who lived in a vinegar bottle. It was very small, very cramped and every morning, the little old woman would sit at the front of her house and moan. "This is what I have lived in all my life! What an ordeal it has been!" she would say again and again. "I wish I lived in a little nice cottage like all the other old ladies!"

One sunny day, a fairy flew by and was enchanted by the vinegar bottle house but when she heard the old woman moan, the fairy stopped and listened. "It does look a bit cramped I suppose so if that is what you want, that is what you will get." said the fairy to her. "Tonight, before you go to sleep, wish for a little cottage and then ready to be surprised when you wake up!" With that, the fairy flew off into the clouds and the little old woman went straight to bed. She closed her eyes tight, wished hard and went to sleep. At the break of day, she woke up in a beautiful little cottage with a thatched roof and roses growing on the walls.

"This is better!" sneered the old lady, "I deserve something like this." She started looking around her new home but she never said a word of thank you to the fairy.
