Story: The story about graffiti (Extract)
Later that day, Dylan decided he would go and find his friends and see if they had given
up on their silly idea. When he arrived at the monument, he was surprised to see them
all crying.
"My throat hurts," cried Nina.
"My eyes are burning," said Nigel.
The others also complained of feeling sick and dizzy.
"I didn't tell on you," said Dylan, "but I asked my brother about spray paint, and he
said breathing it in can make you feel like that and sometimes even worse."
As the children returned to their homes, they had no choice but to tell their parents what they had done to cause their sore throats and eyes. They got into so much trouble as their parents explained how graffiti can destroy important pieces of history, and the monument was exactly that. The rest of their holidays were spent cleaning the monument, and although Dylan wasn't involved, he gave them a helping hand.
